Ytsara Massage – Jumeirah Carlton Tower

‘The holy grail of massages’

I have to confess I’m a massage expert; from Barbados to Bradford I’ve travelled the globe in search of the perfect rub down! From stress inducing treatments, from butter fingered therapists to out of body experiences with the best practitioners I’ve had them all, but when I was offered the chance to visit The Peak Health Club & Spa at the Jumeirah Carlton Tower to try Ytsara (their new line of energising massages) it was business as usual and I checked my expectations in at reception.

Using the unique approach of age-old Asian holistic practices. their new Ytsara treatments combine the healing effects of Asian aromatherapy in a relaxing and restorative massage, helping to restore harmony and calm to the body and mind. I chose a Nuat Naman Body oil ceremony which was modified to suit my needs.

Sitting with my feet in warm water with Lemongrass leaves, Pandan leaves. Anchan Blue Flower and Lemongrass Oil was beyon bearable even for a guy who hates having his trotters fiddled! Afterwards my body was massaged with Royal Thai movements (Chinese acupressure) through towels, then a Mohom hot poultice containing Indigo Leaf was then applied to my meridiens for deep relaxation and to release tension, the Cinnamon and Camphor it contained also aided circulation. The deep relaxing massage that followed was sublime and combined stretches using a relaxing oil containing Sweet Orange and Lemongrass to calm my frazzled mind. It worked as waves of relaxation passed over my body, I was neither awake or asleep; just in a total state of bliss. When the treatment was finally over I chatted with my therapist over Chamomile tea and explained that my body had only ever felt this uplifted and re-energised once before. When pressed I told him where I’d found my holy grail of massages (seven years ago at Sandy Lane in Barbados in case you want to know) and guess who was working there? My therapist!
