‘It’s time to to revolutionise how we stay fresh!’
If good grooming means covering the basics then why are guys with underarm sweat patches still topping our Grooming Girls ‘most hated’ list? It might be pretty basic but many of us are still getting it wrong, especially this time of year. Isn’t it time for our relaxed attitude to do the talking in meetings and not our nervous, sweat-drenched shirts?
Perhaps you’re using a spray that effectively masks odour, yet does very little to stop sweating? Alas, deodorants and antiperspirants are different things. While an antiperspirant keeps you from sweating by closing or clogging the pores, a deodorant neutralises the smell of your sweat by antiseptic action against bacteria. Ideally, you want the best of both worlds. Don’t worry we’ve done the hard work so you don’t need to, and the good news is the new generation of deodorants and antiperspirants seem set to revolutionise how we choose to stay fresh.
1. Firstly know how to apply:
Wash the offending area with soap or a good body wash, then make sure that your underarms are completely dry before applying your deodorant/antiperspirant. Apply max of three swipes to underarm, wait five minutes minimum, and then get dressed.
2. When to apply:
Most of us will apply before heading out the door but that needn’t mean we can’t benefit from a ‘touch up’ during the day so don’t be afraid of taking antiperspirant/deodorant with you to work and re-apply it an hour or two after you get there.
3. Choose the product that suits you best:
When two days of dry are better than one: Dove Men+Care Invisible Dry Anti-Perspirant
An invisible finish makes it possible to spray and go without the fear of marking clothes or leaving embarrassing stains. This grooming must have, for the man on the go, is available in a roll-on and aerosol, both have a great light fragrance and give a guarantee of keeping you dry for up to 48 hours.
For sophistication seekers: Lynx Dry Peace 48h Thermo Protection Anti-Perspirant

Calling all sensitive chaps: Dove Men Care Aqua Impact Range
With the added benefit of 1/4 moisturising cream and no alcohol, this range is perfectly suited for those with sensitive skin. Advanced antiperspirant ingredients combined with a quarter of moisturising technology meant our testers were kept fresh and dry, and their shirts crisp and white – even in the most testing of situations!
Best for keeping fresh on the go: Sure, Dove and Vaseline have compressed their standard 150ml aerosol packs into smaller cans and they are now half the size. Use these pint sized powerhouse products as normal and they’ll last just as long and be just as effective!
4. Be unfaithful
Make sure to rotate from the serving suggestions above. Did you know that just as bacteria can become resistant to antibiotics, it’s possible for your pits to become immune to the ingredients in your deodorant? Job done!
