‘I’d grab a handful of soil, it smells of freedom!’
Now entering his sixth year with Montblanc fragrances, British model Simon Clark’s image has become a definitive aspect of this brand. Despite his striking appearance, minimalist elegance and magnetic presence he somehow maintains a casual attitude, think approachable icon.
Now representing Montblanc’s newest fragrance campaign ‘Legend Night’, Simon displays a ramped up air of intimacy, he works more closely with the lens, as if to mirror the charisma that ‘Legend Night’ bestows on its wearer. Thanks Simon for dropping by to let us know how you like o get your groom on!
What is your earliest fragrant memory?
Soil and the smell of earth. As boys, when my brother and I would stay with my grandmother we managed to tunnel out of the ground floor bedroom and into the garden. We were obsessed with the movie ‘The Great Escape’ when we were kids! I still grab a handful of soil and stick my face in it. It smells of freedom.
Do you have a grooming routine and which products work for you?
I do have a grooming routine, which usually comes into play after days of letting myself go. I wet shave with an old school two blade razor, which you can lean on a bit. Then I moisturise with Embryolisse Lait Crème Concentre and wash my hair with Aveda Shampure shampoo. Before my hair dries into kindling I add some Bumble & Bumble SemiSumo Wax. Ready to roll!
What is your current favourite scent on yourself and on others, and why?
I can’t avoid the hard sell here because they really are fantastic, but the three Montblanc Legend fragrances, Original, Spirit and Night are my favourites: subtlety and authenticity in a bottle. Can you smell authentic? Yes, you can. If my wife is wearing one of my jumpers she smells pretty good too!
What does London mean to you?
At the moment, it’s a pint of Guinness at The Toucan in Soho, followed by a walk down to the Picturehouse Central in Great Windmill St to watch a movie. Ideal!
Where and with whom are you happiest?
The moments when I’m on a long cross-country walk or bike ride with my daughters, whose enthusiasm overtakes mine, that is my idea of pure bliss.
What’s in your washbag?
My staple grooming products which travel everywhere with me are Embroylisse Lait Crème Concentre, Bumble & Bumble SemiSumo Wax and a bottle of Montblanc Legend. They are definitely my top three products, tried and tested!
