Ollie Edwards 29, is a British model who started his career in 2007. A handsome Brit with perfect skin Ollie has gone one to star in a slew of editorials and countless advertising campaigns. You will recognise him from Polo Ralph Lauren, Y3, Calvin Klein and more recently Dunhill Custom. Here at The Grooming Guide we find it hard to believe that apparently it was initially quite hard to persuade him to give up his job as a successful motocross competitor in order to model full-time. Luckily after securing countless ad campaigns, he was finally persuaded!
Motocross continues to be Edwards’ favorite passtime when not modelling as he enjoys the danger and thrills of competition. Relax folks, he intends to try to limit the number of bones he breaks! No stranger to accidents Ollie already sports and infamous scar across his stomach. Although this was caused by being sliced by a stone in his playground, he would tell the other kids he was cut by a Samurai sword! Cool to this day Ollie reveals what it takes to look great and what products give him a helping hand, particularly when the pressure is on to look great. Thanks Ollie!
As a model is there more pressure to take care of your skin off duty ?
Not really. This may sound annoying but I don’t really do anything with it. I just take care of my health and body, and I think that encourages good skin. If I have a long flight to a location that I am shooting in I tend to use a Bakel product. They have all these great serums that are not sticky or heavy which work great on my skin.
Do you have a certain grooming/cleansing routine before shoots ?
Just an early night, and plenty of water. Also sometimes I use Malin and Goetz
deep cleansing face mask. It has this weird action then when applied to the skin
it oxygenates and gets my skin really clean. Great for close up beauty shoots.
What product in particular do you favour for your skin?
I love all the Dr. Perricone Products. I first found out about him when I moved to NY. All the models rave about him and because he is a real dermotologist it gives you reassurance than he may know what he is talking about. I use lots of Bumble & Bumble products as they are always lying round the studios…
Is it hard keeping up with the image people have of you?
It can be strange to have people focusing on my looks all the time in my job so I try not to think about that too much, especially when I am off-duty. We’re all the same really, no one can claim to be perfect!
What people in the media in your opinion get it right and wrong?
I think that a few people who get it right. Pharrell is always on point
and I like to think that that’s my sort of style. But you have to give it to Becks
too. I think you can only get it wrong if your trying to hard, or attempting to get
some sort of jersey shore look.
Is there and particular products you borrow from your girlfriend/partner?
I borrow hair stuff from her a lot, I have crazy frizzy hair, she has a lot of Kiehl’s
anti frizz and it just about tames my mane. Also I love Magic Move for in-between washes. I can pick it up in NY as it’s not so easily available in the UK. Also my Mum uses all the Jurlique products because she loves the fact that it’s all organic. I use it when I go home and she tells me off because it costs so much!
