‘I tend to like classic and distinguished fragrances’
Best known for his lead role in the hit UK E4 show ‘Made in Chelsea’, Hugo Taylor was launched to celebrity status through the sensational storylines that documented his life as a Chelsea based entertainment PR. These natural on-screen gifts aside, who knew that Hugo spent time at Harrow and then graduated from the renowned Courtauld Institute of Art having gaining a first class degree in Fine Art?
Aside from a keen eye for style and a passion for fashion and grooming, Hugo still pursues his cultural interests, and intends to use this capital as fuel for his recently launched blog. It will not only reflect time spent with a finger firmly on the pulse in London, it will also document his extensive travels as well as a love of food, film and intelligent gossip!
So what’s in your wash bag Hugo?
Lots of products from Kiehl’s, Burts Bees, and handmade soap from Florence.
So since ‘Made in Chelsea’ are you more aware you need to look good?
I have always taken pride in my appearance and wanted to look good, so in that respect it did not change. What I am aware of is being photographed when I’m exhausted. It can make me feel very self conscience as often I’d rather be in bed than in front of a camera!
How do you freshen up?
I always shower after a long days filming. I am big fan of shower gels from Molton Brown as they make me feel super clean. I also like getting into bed when I have washed off the stress of the working day.
What does being well groomed mean to you, day to day?
Taking care of yourself, your body, skin and eyes. I like to be a bit unshaven, but still tidy and I also get my hair cut at Paul Edmonds every couple of weeks
Do you use a face wash or moisturise?
Both I wash my skin with warm soapy water and then I moisturise using Simple. Once or twice a week I will exfoliate with these amazing granules I was given whilst in Florida. I shave with an electric razor as I find wet shaving always irritates my skin, no matter what I use.
How do you like to smell?
I use Hermes Terre and Aqua Di Parma – I wouldn’t touch anything else. They are both very classic and distinguished, I’ve worn them almost my entire life.
Have you ever had a grooming disaster?
My best friend shaved off my eye brow when I passed out at a party. Thankfully it grew back!
Do you ever borrow products from your partner/girlfriend?
I once stole anti-wrinkle cream to put under my eyelids the day before a photo shoot. I woke up looking much fresher!
Who in the public eye do you think gets it right, in terms of film music etc?
I think Daniel Day Lewis could be the coolest guy on the planet. He is my inspiration and hero so what ever he does he has my vote!
Do you think more guys are taking an interest in their appearance??
Absolutely! Though I can’t say I advocate men wearing makeup or having their eyebrows threaded. You have to draw a line. There was time when a man was frowned upon for using grooming products and happily that time has passed.
Is there one product you can’t live without?
