‘Barbers brimming with fresh energy’
Working with Penhaligon’s, Jack The Clipper are onto something big. In fact, positioning a chic barber shop within a luxury perfumers makes so much sense we here at The Grooming Guide are amazed it hasn’t been tried anywhere before. We’ll let that sink in for a second. This joint venture is absolutely the first of its kind and if that can’t tempt you to pay a visit to the Penhaligons Canary Wharf store, perhaps the outstanding service will.
Jack the Clipper boldly claim to be the best barbershop in London and they’re clearly up to the task of proving it to the nation. The barbers I met were brimming with energy and suitably zany, ready to use every trick in the book to have you looking and feeling your best. Whether you go for a cut or a shave (I couldn’t resist going for both) they hit the ground running, and use every ounce of their extensive experience and ingenuity (along with a few exotic tricks) to wow you into booking that next appointment. Long story short: it’s the kind of energy that deserves to be rewarded with success.
A joint effort like this only works if the chemistry is right, and that can be a tricky thing to achieve. Luckily in this case the two brands share many of the same qualities: a vintage aesthetic, a generous helping of the exotic, a fierce attention to detail. It could also be because they complement each other in all the right areas; the lively sights and smells of a barbershop add another degree of luxury (as if that were even possible!) to the Penhaligon’s serene exterior.
The Verdict: The perfect (and only) way to get a fresh cut and stock up on luxury fragrances while you’re at it.
