Sam Faiers

‘I think men should be men and leave the fake tan to the women’

Clearly when it comes to personal style and grooming…TOWIE’s Sam Faiers knows what’s what! Surrounded by women and men who like to invest time in their appearance, Sam has developed her own signature look and knows which products to help create it.

Her debut fragrance ‘La Bella’, a scent that combines sweet Vanilla, Iris flower and Musk laced with a luscious Caramel, is indicative of both her passion for and knowledge about grooming, as is the launch of her own eyelash range. Sam dropped by at Grooming Towers to share the secrets of her beauty regime including sharing the occassional squirt of moisturiser with Joey Essex!

When it comes to his grooming what could make a guy feel great as well as look good?
I always say that the first thing I notice on a man is his scent, so he should pick a signature scent to boost his confidence!

Do you have a life-hack beauty tip/product you’d care to share?
My mum’s always been really strict about applying sun protection and her skin still looks amazing, my sister Billie and I are also obsessed with it. I usually wear SPF30, especially on my face, chest and shoulders. I wear tinted balms or Piz Buin in Sun Lipstick.

Which male member of the cast do you think spends the most time on his grooming?
I think all the guys are guilty of hogging the mirror, I’d say it’s hard to pinpoint one!

On days when you’re not feeling tip-top, what helps you feel great again?
I always take a nice long bath and when I get out I’m always feeling better.

What products do you splurge on?
I love makeup – I enjoy mixing products and using different ranges to buy eyeshadows, powder and lip glosses. Above all I rate Laura Mercier’s Silk Crème and any products from MAC, I’m addicted to their powder in Peach Twist.

What is the most common mistake men make with their grooming?
I think men should be men, they should leave the fake tan to the women! Boys might want to bronze it up a little bit but I think they should leave it alone.

Do you think the ‘Essex’ look has changed since the show first started?
I think most cast members have matured in terms of their style and grooming, we used to be quite over the top with our makeup and clothes and now we’ve all taken a step back. Let’s just say that after looking viewing old episodes, less is definitely more!

What was your aim behind your new fragrance ‘La Bella’?
I wanted to create a fragrance that was elegant and pretty and also for it to mean something to me personally. I didn’t want to simply put my name to any fragrance. I was involved in every aspect from the bottle to the scent as well as the new ‘La Bella’ gift set that’s now available, I’ve also been working on my lash range ‘Lashes by Samantha’ which will be out this year as well.

Do you ever borrow any products from the man in your life? Or does he ever borrow any products from you?
Sometimes he’ll borrow moisturiser or my shampoo if he’s forgotten something!

Sam’s newly available ‘La Bella’ Gift Set features an Eau De Parfum (100ml) and Shimmer Body Lotion (100ml) and is available to order from The Fragrance Shop online and nationwide from mid October (£24.50) www.thefragranceshop.co.uk/samantha ‘Lashes by Samantha’ will be available from in stockists nationwide from November.
